🧠 Understand human psychology.
🎭 Conceal intentions.
🕵️ Manipulate circumstances.
🔎 Identify weaknesses that can be exploited.

In clandestine operations against foreign targets, those skills can serve a legitimate national-security purpose.

But there is a dangerous question that deserves to be asked:

⚠️ What happens when those same behaviors begin showing up inside the organization—against coworkers, subordinates, or people viewed as threats?

That is where the line can become frighteningly blurred.

In this reel, I discuss something I witnessed during my CIA career: how years of operating in a world built around deception, manipulation, compartmentation, and exploitation can affect people—and what can happen when those methods are no longer confined to foreign intelligence operations.

And when manipulation becomes habitual, when empathy gives way to exploitation, and when winning becomes more important than right and wrong, an organization can develop a deeply toxic culture.

The concern is not that every intelligence officer becomes this way. Far from it.

The concern is what happens when narcissistic or psychopathic-type behaviors are rewarded rather than restrained—and the people displaying them begin rising through the ranks. 📈

Then the skills once directed outward can begin turning inward.

👥 Against coworkers.
🎯 Against perceived adversaries.
🤐 Against dissenters.
🚨 And potentially against whistleblowers.

That should concern anyone who believes powerful institutions require equally powerful safeguards.
